Gaye Lavinia Smith passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 29th at home with her loving husband Kelly by her side. Gaye was born on December 19, 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah and was raised in the Millcreek area. She was the youngest of four children born to Leo and Lavinia Lythgoe. She graduated from Skyline High School. She owned and operated several Standard Optical stores and worked as an Optometrist's Assistant for several years.

Gaye married Kelly Smith on March 8, 1992 in Reno, Nevada. They then moved to Winnemucca, Nevada. They later moved to the Salt Lake Valley. One of her favorite things was Lucile Ball. Her house was filled with memorabilia about Lucy and Desi. She even named her dog Lucy. She loved needlepoint and collecting antiques and cow figurines. You could always find her reading a book or magazine about celebrities. Gaye always loved throwing a party, Xmas Eve, Easter or just a backyard BBQ. Gaye had a way of making everyone she knew feel important and loved. She will be greatly missed by all.

Gaye was survived by her husband Kelly; her children Joey (Martha), Bobby, Michael (Breann); stepdaughter Mellisa (Eric) Phillips; sister Mary Bradford; brother Dennis Lythgoe; in laws, nieces, nephews and grandchildren. Preceded in death by her father; mother; brother Tom Lythgoe; her stepson Jason Smith; and her former husband Albert Johnson.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 5th at 11:00 a.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State St., Midvale. There will be a viewing on Friday, December 4th from 6-8 p.m. and again on Saturday, December 5th from 10-11 a.m.
