Gary Lamont Steadman

Gary, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend passed away peacefully on October 21, 2017. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on February 4, 1943 to Glenn LaMont and Lillian Viola Bowles Steadman.

Gary was raised in a loving home with his three siblings, Shirley, Jack and Lavon. He was preceded in his death by his mother, father and two sisters.

He married the love of his life, Karen Holt on September 11, 1964. After a few moves, they settled in South Jordan for the last thirty-seven years.

Gary graduated from Jordan High School in 1961 and immediately entered the Navy and served on the U.S.S. Hollister for two years. Upon his return he met Karen where they had a short courtship and were married.

Gary had a long and extensive career with Smith's Food & Drug and was able to retire in 1990 to spend more time with his family. He and Karen joined a travel club, where he spent many years as president and they enjoyed many trips with their friends.

The decline of his health forced them to stop traveling and more focus was put on family events with his children and grandchildren. They spent many years having sleepovers, family BBQ's and yearly trips to Park City.

Gary leaves behind his loving wife of fifty-three years, Karen, his son Brian (Tanya) Steadman, and his daughters Kimberly (Lynn) Hadfield and Melissa (Adam) Ziemski; his grandchildren Sascha Steadman, Jordan (Tyson) Wright, Hailey Wishard, Kylee Carroll, Cory (Haniel) Carroll, Jakob Hadfield, Allie McStotts, Jipsy Ziemski, Dakota Keilman, Jaden Ziemski and Hunter Keilman, and the one that held the sparkle in his eye this last year, his first great grandchild, Addisyn Wright.
