Our beloved Gary Dale Peterson lost his courageous fight against cancer on February 19th, 2023, in the comfort of his own home, with his loving wife, bishop, and nurse by his side. Gary is survived by his wife Elizabeth Peterson, son Dustin Peterson, and daughter Shelbie Peterson.
Gary was born in Springville, Utah on March 16th, 1956 to Millie Rose Tamietti and Dale J. Peterson. He graduated from Springville High School, went on to earn a degree at Snow College, and dedicated himself to a career of 37 years at Intermountain Power Plant. Gary loved his work, and he admired and respected his coworkers as much as they admire and respect him.
Gary fought his battle against cancer for two long years. Despite spending much of that time in and out of the hospital, he never lost his sense of humor. Throughout his entire journey, he cracked jokes, made silly faces with his grandkids, and even pulled some light-hearted pranks on trick-or-treaters. Gary was a man of few words until he was among his favorite people--his grandkids. Ava, Isla, Amelia, and David absolutely adored “Grampa Getty” or “Papa Gary.” He also loved showing off his many treasures acquired from his favorite hobby of going to yard sales. He had a great ability to make others smile and his sense of humor will be missed.
Friends and family are invited to join the Peterson family on Friday, February 24, 2023, at 12 pm for a celebration of life service. Join us at the Goff Mortuary on 8090 State St, Midvale, UT 84047.
