Frank Eugene Malstrom

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle Frank Eugene Malstrom passed away Tuesday, Aug. 18th surrounded by his loved ones and his wife of 50 years Vicki Lynn Malstrom. After Frank was diagnosed with lung cancer, he fought relentlessly until no options remained. Through his many acts of courage, he set an example for his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to never give up. Frank was born May 23, 1948 to Glenn Leon Malstrom and Alice Henrietta Lawson Malstrom. He married Vicki Lynn Malstrom January 19th 1968 and remained a loving, faithful husband throughout their marriage. Frank worked at Kennecott Copper for more than four decades as a welder. His work ethic was unmatched, and he was a proud union member. After retiring, he said that the thing he would miss most was the friendships he made over the years. Frank was always there for his boys, and would put his own work aside to help. His greatest joy was his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was so proud of their accomplishments, and made sure to attend as many events and games as possible for each one of them. Frank was an avid car junkie. His over-the-top collection of Hot Rod magazines attests to that. He loved to tease, and had a unique sense of humor that could be shocking at times. He once gave himself a mohawk to lighten the mood at work during contract negotiations. And that it did. Frank will be greatly missed by all that knew him, and will forever be an example of how to be a great person. Frank is survived by his wife Vicki Lynn Malstrom, sons Quinn (Anisa) Malstrom, Chris (Tricia) Malstrom, sisters Loris Nielsen, Janice (Don) Dumas, grandchildren Courtney (Matt) Zobrist, Skyler Ainsworth(Wes Day), Coleman, Dylan, Aydan, McKenzy, BriElle, and Tatum, and four great-grandchildren, Exsten, Kaiden, Gauge, and Jaxsen, and many nephews and nieces. A special thanks to Tim Maddox his nephew for taking Frank to most of his treatments. A persons character is most visible during difficult times. A special thank you as well to the hospice doctors and caregivers, and to the Utah Cancer Center. Proceeded in death by his parents, Brother Glenn, and daughter Jamie Lynn Ainsworth. Memorial Services will be held at The Gathering Place, Gardner Village, 1100 West 7800 South, West Jordan, at 2 p.m. on Wed., Aug. 26. Viewing from 1-2pm. Casual dress, as Frank would have wanted.
