Francis "Red" Redmond passed away August 31, 2015 at the age of 95. He was born August 26, 1920, to James Francis Redmond and Lucy Weston Redmond. Red graduated from East High, Salt Lake City, Utah in 1938. Red worked 41 years at Mountain States Telephone & Telegraph (1939-1980).
He married the "love of his life" Gail B. Peterson, in 1943. Red's greatest joy was flying. He received his private pilot's license in 1941. Red served during WWII in the Civilian Pilot Training Program (CPTP), US Army Air Corp, 8th Army Training Command. He later received his commercial pilot's license and was a flying instructor. Red and Gail retired to St. George, Utah, where they spent 12 years enjoying golf, friends and warm weather. Red later served as a loving caregiver to Gail during her last years with Alzheimer's disease.
Red is survived by daughter, Kathleen (Larry); son, Steven (Margaret); grandchildren, Adam, Katie and Lucy; 8 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife, Gail and grandson, Jason.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Goff Mortuary, 8090 South State Street, Midvale, Utah, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.; followed by burial at the Sandy City Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
