Florence €Œflo†Nealley

Florence Estella Pedersen Nealley passed away peacefully at her home - surrounded by family at the age of 93, on April 22, 2021 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Florence was born the eldest of seven children on January 19, 1928 in Park City, Utah to Roy and Dora Pedersen.

In June of 1951, Florence married Kenneth Stefines. However, shortly thereafter the marriage was dissolved.

Florence met Eugene "Gene" Nealley in the 1950's, and after a fun and jovial courtship the two married on June 18, 1956 in Elko, Nevada. Together they were blessed with Sharon, their beloved daughter whom they always called "Sheri." The three of them made their home in Salt Lake City.

She graduated from Murray High School and later attended Salt Lake Technical College. Shortly after, she became an Instructor of Cosmetology at Hollywood Beauty College and then on to Darrel's College of Beauty, and Continental Beauty College. Flo had an amazing work ethic, an ability to learn quickly, loved teaching, and had superior organizational skills. Later in life she worked part-time at 7-11 convenience stores to provide income and health insurance for her and Gene during his healthcare crisis.

Flo and Gene loved to travel and camp in the Uinta Mountains. They towed their trailers to so many favorite spots in the mountains and with their beloved friends. Weekends were always celebrated with pot-luck dinners, playing cards, bowling leagues, and golfing greens.

She had many hobbies. Flo was an avid reader and loved her books right up to her time of passing. Yard work and gardening brought her so much joy...she had the most amazing roses in her yard. She loved to sew and made many clothes for herself and Sheri throughout the years...her proudest creation though was the wedding dress she made for Sheri. For which, she received a first-place blue ribbon at the Salt Lake County Fair.

Flo always possessed the most cheerful, calm, and accepting disposition. Relationships with her family and friends had the deepest of meaning for her. She would open her heart and her home to all. She was an amazing pillar of strength and resilience; she had a very personal and deep relationship with Jesus Christ. She was a member of "The Order of the Eastern Star" for many years...and, held positions of Chaplain, and had the honor of becoming Worthy Matron.

She profoundly felt and endured the passing of family and many dear friends. Her longevity surpassed so many.

Florence was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years, her parents, her brother Clyde, and sisters, Myrna and Darlene. She is survived by her daughter Sheri Larsen (Ron), sisters Nola Mikich, LaRue Loader, and Claudia Alvey (Boyd), grandchildren Aaron Larson, Jeremy Larson (Britney), step grandchildren, Jeremiah Larsen (Niki), Chandra Jimenez (Jason), Megan Casey (Scott) and Austin Larsen (Stacee), 11 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren, Ken Larson special son-in-law.

Memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at 12:00 pm at the Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State Street, Midvale, Utah 84047. Visitation and viewing will be from 10:30 am - 11:30 am at the mortuary prior to the service. Interment and dedication of the grave at Murray City Cemetery, Murray, Utah immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Shriner's Children's Hospital of Salt Lake in her name would be of great honor to Florence.
