Farrel Brown

Farrel Brown, 78, born to Bertram A. and Mildred Van Natta Brown on August 26, 1938, passed away on January 8, 2017, the 3rd of 4 children. Siblings are Patricia (Carlos) Jensen, B. Van Brown (deceased) (Alyce), and Nola (Chris) Stirling. Farrel loved growing up on the farm and horses were her constant companions. Graduated from Jordan High in 1957 as a proud Beetdigger. Graduated from Darrel's School of Beauty in 1958 and worked as a beautician for many years. She retired from O.C. Tanner in 2003. After the passing of her parents, she moved into their home and became a part of the neighborhood where she had spent her teen years. Lifelong member of the LDS Church.

Farrel was a kind mother who provided for her children through many trials. They may not have had a lot materially, but they were always loved with good food on the table and she loved every minute spent with them. Children are Barney Von Walker (deceased), Keith Tony Walker, Jesse Owen Van Tassell and Victoria Van Tassell Christensen (deceased). Losing two children far before their time was very difficult for her, and her heartache never ended. During the last few years of her life, she had many health issues that limited her mobility and interaction with others. Farrel had been a very devoted daughter and took great pride that she had taken care of her parents in their declining years. Jess learned from her example and was a loving, caring and patient son as her own health declined.

She is survived by sons Keith and Jess; her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren; sisters Tricia and Nola; sister-in-law Alyce; many friends and relatives.

A visitation will be held at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State St., on Thursday January 12, from 10-11:30 a.m. followed by a graveside service at 12 noon at the Wight's Fort Cemetery in West Jordan.
