Evelyn Ruth Lehmitz

Our beloved mother, grandma, sister, aunt, friend and neighbor left her mortal existence at age 90 on June 29, 2018, due to a short battle with aggressive pancreatic cancer. Evelyn was born May 30, 1928 to John and Pearl Jensen Wheadon in South Jordan, Utah. She was the oldest child of John and Pearl. Evelyn had a younger brother, Lawrence, whom she loved dearly her whole life.

Pearl died at a very young age and Evelyn and Lawrence were raised by their aunt and uncle, Ethyl and Elmer McMillan. John later remarried to Essie Holt. Evelyn welcomed another brother Dale and beautiful sister Carol into the family.

Evelyn married the love of her life, Dean Douglas Lehmitz, on Sept. 14, 1951 in the Salt Lake Temple. Evelyn enjoyed many things, but family was her life. Robin and RuthAnn made her a mother. LeeRoy and Larry made her a mother-in-law. Ashley, Katie, Logan and Shelby gave her the greatest joy of all, becoming a grandma.

Evelyn was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings; all she magnified and served with faithfulness and joy.

To say she will be missed is unnecessary, but her legacy of life and love would be her wish for all. Mom would say, "Don't be sad. Remember the times we shared and take care of each other."

Survived by children: Robin Nielson (LeeRoy), Bluffdale, RuthAnn Huntington (Larry), Heber City, grandchildren: Ashley Gerratt (Blair), Katie Prusak (Geoff), Logan Huntington (Kaitlyn), Shelby Huntington, brother Dale Wheadon (Jonne), sister Carol Rees (Don), sister-in-law Carla Wheadon, sister-in-law Fern Beckstead, brother-in-law Jeff Newman.

Preceded in death by husband Dean Douglas Lehmitz, parents John and Pearl Wheadon, stepmother Essie Wheadon, brother Lawrence Wheadon, and many other family members and friends.

A viewing will be held Friday, July 6 from 6-8 p.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State St., Midvale. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 7 at 11 a.m. at the Bluffdale LDS Stake Center, 2742 West 14400 South, with a viewing from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment, West Jordan City Cemetery.
