Eugene Strasburg was born in Lehi, Utah on March 21, 1924 to George and Mary Strasburg. He was number 12 of 13 to be born at home in the parlor about a half block from the Lehi Hospital. He died on February 2, 2022. He was preceded in death by just about everyone and is survived by Larry, Nyle and Robyn plus lots of grandkids, great grandkids and some great great grandkids. He married Joanne West in October 1942, she was the love of his life and remained married. They were sealed in the temple in 1943.
He was always working, he helped many people and never charged enough or nothing. He worked as a mechanic in Lehi and then in the Navy CBs in WWII. After the war, and to the credit of America, he stayed in Japan rebuilding bridges and roads. He had his own shop in Lehi for a while then moved on to work for Western Machinery in Salt Lake. He worked for General Service until he went to work for the Union Pacific Railroad. In no time he became the equipment Supervisor managing all machinery except trains from Salt Lake to Los Angeles until he retired to work in his garage.
Viewing will be held at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State, Midvale, UT, Monday, Feb. 7 from 6 to 8 P.M. Funeral service will be held at East Midvale Stake Center, 240 East 7570 South, Tuesday, Feb. 8 at 11 A.M., with viewing one hour before service. Burial to follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
We want to give special thanks to the VA care team, or as dad would say, "the pill roller, head shrinker and shower lady."
