The family and friends of Ethel Ingram Brewster already miss her! A lot!
Always a lady, Ethel died peacefully on April 17 at 97. She lived a full and happy life and had planned to live to100. She came from a fiercely independent family and loved to boast "We can do hard." With her "can-do" spirit, no task was too big or too difficult.
Born in Idaho Falls during the depression, the ninth of eleven children, Ethel developed a strong appreciation for what she had-family, friends, and enough money to do most of what she wanted. She loved a bargain and spent many happy hours at local thrift stores purchasing clothes, jewelry, and belts to create colorful, stylish outfits. When people told her she didn't look her age, she would tell them she knew they were lying but loved to hear it anyway.
Ethel was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and she was proud of the many services her church provided throughout the world. She didn't hold a grudge and saw the best in others. Her spirituality was genuine.
At 97 most of Ethel's friends and many of her family have died. Wayne, her beloved husband (72 years) and Chris Thomas, her adored grandson, preceded her in death. She is survived by her three children Jed, Claudia (O'Brien), and Diane (Brewster-Norman) and her sons-in-law, Liam O'Brien and Michael Norman. She has two grandchildren, Jayme Gabaldon and Heidi Ransdell, and five great grandchildren. Her cherished sister Carma Bird (88) and adored brothers Bart Ingram (almost 95) and Dean Ingram (100) are still living.
Ethel enjoyed eight months at Coventry, an independent retirement community where she met new friends. She cherished the time she spent with her sister-in-law Elaine Niederhuaser. During World War II, they shared an apartment, expenses, and babysitting responsibilities. Most importantly, they built an enduring friendship that enriched their lives for generations.
