Ethel was a wife, mother, grandma, and great grandma beyond compare. She was the glue that held us all together and the personification of home. Those who knew her knew she was quick-witted with a sharp tongue and full of love. She loved spending time with her family more than anything and her family cherished all the time they spent with her. Ethel found pure joy in making her family happy and put their health and happiness above her own. Even when she was under the weather, she would cook our favorite foods, tuck us in, and kiss our foreheads just to make us smile.
She was funny and kind. She held our hands on our bad days and celebrated with us on our good ones. Even if we didn't know we needed it, a hug, phone call or even a simple, knowing nod from Ethel left us feeling at peace. Her intuition was unmatched, and her caring nature took center stage in times of need. An "I love you" was a requirement before leaving her house or hanging up the phone. While her heart was genuine and pure, a simple point of her finger could instill the fear of God into anyone at the receiving end. She wanted the best for everyone, and Ethel always knew best.
Ethel was a lover and a friend. Ralph's sweetheart from the ripe age of 13-a love story that faced trials and tribulations head on with understanding and compromise. Ethel was the sunshine in the world of every person she met, but she was Ralph's entire world. An authentic example of fighting the odds and letting love conquer all; "'til death do us part" was a promise kept.
She was a fighter and an example of strength. No matter what this world threw at her, strength persevered. We watched as the fight raged on and Ethel pushed forward against all odds.
Her beautiful singing could wow a crowd and comfort and soothe the babies. She was an avid Nascar/Jimmie Johnson fan and loved her Utah Utes and Denver Broncos! Football Sundays were met with shouting matches with the TV and her own touchdown celebrations.
A true embodiment of love, support, and strength-God broke the mold with Ethel. She was our best friend and guiding light. She was an angel amongst us and she has been welcomed Home with open arms.
"Walk on, walk on with hope in your hearts and you'll never walk alone."
