Ernie Vigil

Our beloved, husband, father and grandfather, Ernie Vigil, 72, peacefully but unexpectedly passed away on December 11, 2017 at his home in Riverton, Utah. He was born on September 12, 1945 to Faustin Vigil and Natalie Marie Gonzales. In his youth, Ernie enjoyed basketball, riding his horse and driving his 1956 Ford pickup. He learned for himself the value of hard work and responsibility and lived it faithfully and honestly his entire life. He met and married his lifetime love Sandra Maria Hardman on June 17, 1972 and being the kind-hearted, selfless man he was, adopted and raised her two children, Jeri and Ron. Ernie later built and shared a very successful dump truck business with his son who now operates Vigil Trucking. He was adored by his entire family and his friends are countless. It was hard to go anywhere that someone didn't know and love Ernie. He will be greatly missed by all.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra; children, Jeri (Todd) Sharp and Ron (Megn); 2nd daughter, Angie (Kodis) Peterson; grandchildren, Lynnzi (Curtis), Shaylee, Taylor, Josh and Jesse; great grandchildren, Hagen, Kashton, Parker, Jaxon, Emma, Ellie and Alayna; siblings, Eloy (Georgia), Lorraine Jenkins, Shirley Vranes, Eddie, Bernice, David (Lannie). Preceded in death by his parents, brother Martin, and brother-in-law, Ron Jenkins.

Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Anderson & Goff Mortuary, 11859 South 700 East, Draper, Utah. Viewings will be held at the mortuary on Friday evening from 6-8 p.m. and 1 hour prior to the service. Interment, Bluffdale City Cemetery.
