Emma Darlene Jones Anderson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, passed peacefully into the arms of her loving Heavenly Father on February 24, 2021.
Darlene was born October 28, 1931 in Salt Lake City, UT, to George Victor, and Susan Alberta Blackett Jones. In 1933, her family moved to Nephi, Utah where she grew up with her 4 sisters and 3 brothers. It was in Nephi that she learned to love, work hard, and maximize fun. These principles became a strong foundation that helped her find joy in her life, which she shared with everyone around her.
Darlene graduated from Juab High school in 1949, where she loved being a cheerleader and a loyal Wasp for life. She started working for the phone company in Nephi, in 1950, moved to Salt Lake City in 1952. She continued working for the phone company until she retired.
Darlene married Clair Henry Anderson on August 3, 1953, in Elko, NV. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple. Together they were blessed with 6 children, George, Dirk, Joni, Susan, Craig and Robert.
Her family was her whole world. She taught her children to work hard and play hard. She had a special bond with each member of her family, especially her grandchildren, and was very proud of all their accomplishments. She made wonderful memories with them. She taught her grandchildren to play cards from an early age, and all of them loved playing cards with grandma. Her "special days," card games, and family vacations will be remembered forever.
Darlene was the life of the party, known for her quick wit, and cheerful disposition. She made everything fun, and everyone feel welcome. She enjoyed living in St. George for the winter, and went on many vacations, and enjoyed traveling the world with Clair, and her dear, life-long friends.
We as a family are tremendously grateful for Darlene's special companion Lynn Walker, who adored and cared for her for the last 6 years.
Darlene is survived by, her children, Dirk (Judy) Anderson, Joni (Dave) Free, Craig (Tiffanie) Anderson, and Rob (Angie) Anderson; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law Larry Hansen, Dorothy Jones, Glen Anderson, Grant Anderson, LaRue Greenland, Leigh Johnson, and Tony (Joyce) Anderson; numerous nieces and nephews; and her dear companion Lynn Walker.
