Kathleen Giles Silcox passed away April 18, 2019 at the young age of 85 years in Ogden, Utah. She was born in Flowell, Millard County, Utah on August 17, 1933 to Forest Leroy and Vivian Myers Giles. She was the second of six children.
She graduated from Jordan High School and seminary in 1951. During her junior year, she met Wayne Elswood Silcox whom she married four years later on February 16, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity. When Wayne and Kathleen were first married they were able to own a grocery store and run a small café. They were blessed with four children, three daughters and one son all of whom loved and honored her and her great faith and testimony of the Lord Jesus Christ. She was married for thirty years to Wayne before he left this mortal life. Later on she married Buck Bradford, her companion for 15 years. She enjoyed going to rodeos with him and helping him make saddles. She was able to share her testimony by voice and by example to many who met her. She bore her testimony faithfully every month, which touched the hearts of adults and children alike.
It seems as if the springtime was her favorite time of the year. As the snow melted she would yearn to get her hands down in the dirt. She loved to do yard work and plant a garden. What joy it would bring to her to see the fruits of her labor. She enjoyed cooking and canning. She enjoyed living on the farm where we had to take care of many different animals. She was also in charge of flood irrigating forty acres of alfalfa grass hay. There has never been a harder-working woman.
She always gave 110% in all she did especially with her church callings. She held several different positions in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was dedicated to visiting teaching and took great joy in making a Christmas ornament for the primary children every year matching the primary theme. Christ was definitely always the center of her life. It was her unshaking faith that helped her endure faithfully throughout this mortal life.
She was survived by her four children, Lori Williams (Stan) of Billings, Montana; Trudi Lewis (Brian) of Boiling Springs, South Carolina; a son, Kim Silcox of Billings, Montana; and Sheri Nielsen (Thayne) of Providence, Utah; eleven grandchildren, and five great grandchildren living and one whom she will be wishing well as he soon begins his journey in this mortal life. As she returned to her Heavenly home there began a beautiful reunion of those who have preceded her in death; her husband, Wayne Silcox, and husband Buck Bradford, her parents Forest and Vivian Giles, her older brother Leroy, sister Norma and younger brothers Glenn, Larry and Paul. There were many other family and friends who are also rejoicing in her beautiful homecoming. She will be missed greatly here by those left behind but we also know she will be watching over us all.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 27th, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in the Goff Mortuary Chapel, 8090 State Street, Midvale, Utah. There will be a viewing prior to the service at 11:30 a.m. - 12:45 p.m.
