On Thursday, January 12, 2017 we lost our beloved daughter, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and great friend to many.
Emerita was born on July 12, 1952 in Ulysses, Kansas to Carlos Sandoval Lucero and Seferina Josie Lopez. Mother to Sergio Pasillas; grandmother to Cella, Aubrianna, and Miguel Pasillas; great-grandmother to King Ford. Emerita is survived by her mother, six sisters, and four brothers: Vivian (Bill) Rich, Gloria (Roger) Martinez, Carlos Lucero, Margaret (Bill) Pritchard, Lorenzo (Loretta) Lucero, Dorothy (Lawrence) Valdez, Frank (Nina) Lucero, Danny (Mindy) Lucero, Victoria Lucero, and Rebecca Lucero. She was also the aunt to twenty-nine nephews and nieces, and many great-grand nephews and nieces.
Emerita worked at the University of Utah hospital in the cafeteria where she enjoyed catering and took pride in her presentation. Emerita was a very loving and caring person with a great sense of humor. She enjoyed spoiling all little kids, crafts, bingo and playing cards, but was not a happy camper when she lost to her mother! One of her passions was sewing for others and she designed many of her own creations.
Emerita was preceded in death by her infant son; father, Carlos; brothers LeRoy and Eugene (Jimmy); and sister, Natividad.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 18 at 11 a.m. at St. Therese Catholic Church, 624 W. Lennox St., Midvale, where Rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. Interment, West Jordan City Cemetery.
