Elwood Gunnar Ihler passed away on March 9, 2017 at the age of 96. Elwood was born on July 29, 1920 to Gunnar Olsen Ihler and Orpha Stilson in Orangeville, Utah.
He married Freda Joan Stokes on September 16, 1942 in the Manti Temple.
Elwood was a Veteran of World War II. He was a Coal Miner and Journeyman Carpenter. He retired from Jordan School District as the supervisor of new construction.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Joan; son, Collin and grandson, Lane Anthony Martin.
He is survived by his two daughters, Karen Martin and Paula Shardlow and his son, Kim (Margie) Ihler; 8 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
There will be a viewing from 6-7:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Anderson & Goff Mortuary, 11859 South 700 East, Draper, Utah. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 20, 2017 at the Sandy City Cemetery, 9000 South 700 East.
