She was born October 22, 1938, in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico.
Elva, also known as Martha, was a lover of many different things in life. She loved traveling, going out with her family at restaurants, and cars foreign & domestic - she was especially fond of 60's muscle cars! A woman of many talents, Elva spent her time tinkering on cars, drawing, and tearing down things to rebuild what she envisioned. She enjoyed reading, she was often found with a pen and a stack of articles searching for want-ads. Above all, she had an immense love for her children and grandchildren. Elva was a strong, profound, and outspoken woman; both in mind and body! She would often brag about her ability to arm wrestle men of greater stature and strength than her and win. She was a woman of great introspection, often reflecting on the past and sharing her stories with anyone willing to learn. It was because of her story that Elva carried herself with great pride; she never forgot where she came from. Now, it is our turn to carry the torch and never forget who we came from. She will be dearly missed, forever loved, and cherished deeply.
She is survived by her children, Fredrick Santiago, Elva Collins, Adolfo Gonzalez, Anthony Gonzalez, Gaylen Gonzalez and Elizabeth Rivera, 15 Grandchildren and 12 Great-Grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all of her friends that made her life a joy.
