Elmer Bert Johnson, born on December 28, 1928 in Murray, Utah, died peacefully on July 11, 2015 surrounded by his loving family.
Bert was the oldest son of Elmer Sigfried Johnson and Myrtle Adena Anderson. He married Marilyn Thomson on June 24, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple. Bert was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He showed his testimony by the way he lived. Bert was employed all his life by Jordan School District, starting out as a sweeper, then bus driver and ended his career as the lead plumber. Bert served in the Army National Guard for six years. One of the projects he worked on was the road known as Guardsman's Pass. He got his pilot's license at the age of 16. He loved flying the small single engine planes on short trips around Utah. He loved to go dancing with his sweetheart Marilyn; they were members of a dancing club in his earlier years.
Bert loved being outdoors working on his small farm with the animals and large garden. He was also a mink rancher for a time. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren making a variety of wood projects in his shop.
