After 21 years without the love of her life, Gay and Verlo were reunited in the early hours of May 4th, 2016.
Gay passed away peacefully at her home in Copperton, Utah surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Santaquin, Utah on August 23, 1926. She was the only child born to Ross and Nora Cary Cushing. The three of them later moved to Bingham Canyon where they survived the Great Depression.
Gay excelled at everything, especially as a student and Minerette at Bingham High School where she graduated in 1944. She then went on and earned her Associates Degree in Business and became the bookkeeper for her family company, Kings Coal.
Gay's legacy began when she met her soulmate Verlo E. Kendrick. The two of them married on April 2nd,1946 and started their family in Bingham Canyon. They later bought a house in Copperton, Utah where they along with their four children made that house a home.
Gay donated her time for many years working for the Lion's Club Visitor's Center at Kennecott Copper Mine. She spent her whole life serving others by volunteering for many different community service organizations. She was most passionate about her time spent with the Immaculate Conception Church Altar Society.
Gay retired as an administrative assistant from Bingham Middle school in 1985.
She and Verlo created the best memories for their kids, grandkids and many friends at their summer home in Charleston, Utah.
She is survived by her four children, Rick (Raelene) Kendrick, Laural (Rick) Sperry, Jan (Kristy) Kendrick and Brad (Marilyn) Kendrick. 7 grandchildren, Aundrea, Stephanie, Kerry, Jadie, Derek, Christopher, Brady and Nicole. 30 Great-grandchildren and 8 Great-great grandchildren.
She is welcomed home by her sweetheart Verlo, her Parents, son Mike, lifelong friend Willadean and many friends.
Visitation will be at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State Street, Midvale, Utah on Tuesday, May 10, 2016 from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m., followed by a Rosary. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 8892 W. State Hwy, Copperton, Utah 84006. Friends may call one hour prior to services. Interment at Redwood Memorial Estates.
Along with her family the most important thing in life was her love and dedication to her faith.
