Eleanor Leona Conrad Collard left her earthly existence on September 29, 2017. Eleanor was born, in the doctor's office, to William Wesley Conrad and Reta Pearl Hillis Conrad in Terra Bella, CA, on Oct. 26, 1926. She married Ronald Clyde Collard in Visalia, CA on Oct. 27, 1947, their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple.
Eleanor spent her early years in the small town of Terra Bella, CA, working on a ranch with her family, where they took care of groves of olives and fruit trees. She enjoyed her childhood and spent lots of time with her siblings.
Eleanor graduated from Porterville High School in 1944. It was in Porterville that she met her soon- to- be husband, Clyde, while he was serving an LDS mission. Upon his release they dated for a couple of weeks, he went back to Huntsville, UT, where they corresponded for a brief while, and then married!
She didn't realize what a change her life would take when she moved to Utah to become a sheep-herders wife, moving from winter range to summer range, living out of sheep camps, raising four children in ten different houses and being involved in ALL of it! Eleanor was known far and wide for her "sheep camp" hospitality and her amazing cooking!
As a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, she was actively involved with the Young Women's program, the Primary and some of her favorite callings were in the Relief Society. Eleanor maintained her faith and had a strong testimony throughout her life.
She had many friends and fond memories while working at the Riverton City Offices, where she retired after 20 year of service. She enjoyed bowling and was a member of the Senior Bowling League, but her true passion in life was quilting!
Eleanor has been a remarkably strong woman and she has faced many challenges head on. She has been compassionate and caring, especially in the last five years to those where she has been living. She has been the "matriarch" at her assisted living center, nurturing and helping those she could, loving everyone and enduring to the end. She will be missed.
Eleanor is survived by two of her children, Curtis (Daniele) Collard and Kayleen (Jon) Jonsson, also by 14 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Clyde; their two children; Ronald Conrad and Pamela Rae, her parents, her siblings and many other family members and close friends.
