Our beloved mother and grandmother, Elaine Carter Haake, age 90, passed away on July 15, 2019 in Draper, Utah of causes incident to age.

Elaine was born on December 11, 1928 as the second child of Raymond C. Carter and F. Louise Irons in Provo, Utah. She graduated from South High School in Salt Lake City. She met the love of her life, Leonard H. Haake, and they were married October 31, 1947, sealed for time and all eternity in 1948 in the Salt Lake Temple.

She is survived by her younger sister, Anita Carpenter of Cedar City, UT; her children: Kathleen Thorn of West Valley, UT; Carole Lee Criddle (Keith) of Auburn, WA; Julie Wilson (Craig) of Sandy, UT; and John Haake (Barbara) of Marshallville, OH. Also survived by 16 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Haake, her parents, Raymond and Louise Carter, and sister, LuRae Johnson and son-in-law, David Thorn.

Elaine and Leonard were long-term residents of Midvale, Utah. They both worked for Mountain Fuel Supply (Questar Gas), managing the local Midvale office; and later, Elaine worked at the main office in accounting.

Elaine was a devout member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was instrumental in converting her husband, Leonard, to the gospel.

She was a devoted wife and mother and loved cooking, sewing, and canning of home-grown fruits and vegetables for her family.

Because of her kind and loving nature, she was loved by all, including family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at the Goff Mortuary, Midvale, Utah on Saturday, July 20th. Viewing from 10:00-10:45 AM with funeral services following at 11:00 AM.  Graveside services to be held in Nephi, Utah at 2:00 pm.

The family of Elaine Haake expresses their gratitude to Beehive Homes of Draper and to the staff for five years of loving care.
