Effie Ellen Walters Shay Maynard Severson, 88, peacefully passed away on March 9, 2015 at her home in South Jordan, Utah, surrounded by her family. She was born on November 5, 1926 in Bacchus, Utah to Oscar Ernest and Almeda LaRay Warr Walters. Effie married Theodore Maynard Jr. on August 9, 1960. The marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple. After Theodore's passing she married Jack Severson.

Effie worked at Vincent Drug for a number of years and retired as a library clerk from Salt Lake County. She loved to dance, bowl and dedicated her life to genealogy and temple work.

Effie was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in many callings. She was a temple worker in the Las Vegas and Jordan River Temples.

Survived by her children, Byron (Sharon) Maynard, Sandra (Ron) Ross, Troy (Dee) Maynard, Darla Maynard and Darwin (Angel) Maynard; daughter in law, Jeri Maynard ; 22 grandchildren; 48 great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her husband, Theodore; husband, Jack; son, David Maynard; granddaughter, Jessica Walker.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 13, 2015 at the Glenmoor Stake Center, 4200 West Skye Drive, South Jordan, Utah. Visitations will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday evening at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State Street, Midvale, Utah and 1 hour prior to the services, at the church. Interment, South Jordan City Cemetery.
