Edward was a loving husband to his lifelong sweetheart, Ethel, proud father of five (5) beautiful daughters, devoted grandpa to 10 amazing grandchildren and an adoring great-grandpa to his 14 great-grandchildren. He loved his family more than anything in the world.
Save for a short, six (6) year stint in Las Vegas, NV, Dad called Utah his home.
Dad was a working man. He spent a majority of his adult life with his nose to the grindstone and instilling the importance of hard work and grit. Dad started working for Kennecott Copper in December of 1954. In July of 1958 he joined the US Navy and honorably served his country for the next four (4) years. Upon completing his enlistment in the Navy, he went back to work at Kennecott as a haulage truck driver and driver trainer and retired in 1985. In 2005, he again retired from UTA where he worked as a security guard and then as a rail service (light rail) maintenance employee.
Where there is work, there must be play, and Dad played with the best of them-played the guitar that is. Dad was the songwriter, front man, bassist, and guitarist for his band The Country Strings. He travelled through Utah singing and strumming for over 20 years and when that final curtain closed, Dad continued singing and playing guitar for his own pleasure and the enjoyment of generations of children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Dad enjoyed camping and fishing and the occasional day trip to Wendover. He loved spending time with his family and although Dad has returned Home with his Sweetheart, his memory and the music will continue on in our hearts.
