Ed Townes, age 61, beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on September 15, 2015, two days short of his 62nd birthday. Ed was a kind and gentle man, a prince of a husband, and a fabulous father. He had a wonderful sense of humor and the ability to anticipate and meet the needs of those with whom he came in contact; he brought joy to the lives of those who knew him. Ed lived life to the fullest: he was a wonderful neighbor and a hard worker. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially listening to music, attending concerts, watching Utes games or raising a glass of beer in celebration.
Ed is survived by Linda, his soul mate and wife of 24 years, and his two adoring children, Riley and Lennon. Linda has always seen him as the person who saved her, referring to him as her angel; now it is literally so. Ed built his life around Linda and their children and felt fulfilled in their presence. Riley and Lennon could not have had a better example of how to be a man and gentleman.
Ed, you were a great example of compassion. You embodied your Virginian heritage with your southern hospitality, welcoming everyone into your home with open arms. Our lives are better for having known you. We will miss your smile, your warmth, your patience, and your kindheartedness.
