Earla Buchanan Lund

Our devoted mother, grandmother, GG, sister, friend, and mentor passed away quietly on the morning of May 8th in Sandy, Utah at the age of 96 years old.

Earla was the first born of four children to Cloe Cox and Duncan Buchanan in Manti, Utah on June 21st, 1926.

Earla graduated from Manti High School. She met and married in the Salt Lake Temple, Lloyd LeRoy Lund from Ephraim, Utah on November 16th, 1944. Together they raised six children. Lloyd passed away in 1979. Earla was blessed to have Clinton Black in her life for 20 years. Together they shared their knowledge and expertise with all of mom’s children. Mom and Clint traveled many miles together, enjoying life, hobbies, and crafts.

Earla was an avid seamstress, quilter, crafter, home maker and an amazing gardener and cook. Mom devoted herself to her loving family. Mom pieced many beautiful quilts. Every member of her family has each been gifted a unique quilt made for them. She loved to do hand embroidery, hardanger embroidery and cross stitch pieces to decorate her beautiful home. Earla spent many years skillfully making hundreds of porcelain dolls and taught these skilled classes to others. Many of her beautiful talents won awards at the state fair.

Earla is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lloyd, a son Gene Lund, a daughter Marie Lund, and son-in-law Joe Barker.
