Dwight Glenn Hyatt passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 15, 2021 at the age of 75. He was born to Glenn Hyatt and Hazeldene Poulsen Hyatt Bell on October 6, 1945 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Throughout his life, Dwight liked to play by his own rules and wasn't afraid to take risks. At age 11, Dwight lost his Dad in a plane crash into the Great Salt Lake. This forced him to mature at a faster pace and develop a strong sense of independence, while taking on responsibilities that many of his peers never had to face at such a young age. During his young adult years growing up in Sandy, Utah, he owned and enjoyed fast cars (with a special fondness for Corvettes) and was a member of the Rickshaws Car Club. He worked in construction most of his adult life, had a witty sense of humor and was a great example to his family about how to not shy away from a hard day's work. He always seemed to have multiple hobbies on the side to keep him busy, such as raising Thoroughbred racehorses, cows and other livestock. He was a "Jack of All Trades" and would enjoy working on various projects in his garage and around the house and loved to watch his Western movies and listen to classic country music in his free time.
Dwight is survived by his wife, Margaret (Maggie) Scorzato Hyatt, his son Justin, three siblings, Claudia (Steve), Randy and Don (Karen) and three grandchildren (Gage, Bailey and Ashton). He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Glenn and two siblings, Maryann and Linda.
A heartfelt thanks to the staff of Intermountain Homecare and Hospice, with special thanks to Arla, Archie and Gretchen for their expertise, understanding and compassion.
Family and friends are invited to attend graveside services at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at the Sandy City Cemetery (700 E 9000 S, Sandy UT).
