Fredrick Duane Olson passed away December 25th, 2014 at his home in Crescent, Utah after a valiant battle with cancer. Duane was born in Crescent, Utah on July 25th, 1934 to Wilford and Effie Jaynes Olson. He graduated from Jordan High School and then served in the U.S. Army. He married Maris LeFevre on May 2nd, 1958, in the Salt Lake Temple. He and Maris are the parents of three sons and one daughter. Duane worked for over thirty-five years for the Salt Lake County Public Works Department working many years as a road inspector. Duane's favorite activities were spending time with Maris and hunting and fishing with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Completely dedicated grandparents, the two of them loved to attend all of their grandchildren and great-grandchildren's activities. Duane and Maris served three service missions for the LDS church. He will be greatly missed.
Duane is survived by his wife and children Rick (Kim) Olson, Connie (Lindsey) McMullin, Troy (Trista) Olson, George (Sandy) Olson, eighteen grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. Duane is also survived by his brother Jay Olson and sister Bette Olson. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Cody Duane Olson, great-grandson Gage Brandon Olson, sister JoAnn Olson, brother-in-law Lloyd Olson, and sister-in-law Lola Mae Olson.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 31st at 11:00 AM in the Crescent 30th Ward Chapel located at 85 East 11000 South in Sandy, Utah. A viewing will be held Tuesday, December 30th from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Goff Mortuary at 8090 South State Street and from 9:45 to 10:45 AM prior to the funeral services at the chapel. Interment in the Crescent Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Primary Children's Medical Center under Duane's name.
