Duane Robert Brown, 92, passed away on April 13, 2025, in Kearns, Utah. Born on June 18, 1932, in Richfield, Idaho to William A Brown and Lena Blackslee Brown. Duane honorably served in the US Navy from 1950 to 1954, embracing the disciplined life of a sailor and forming bonds that lasted a lifetime. After his military service, he embarked on a successful career at Morton Salt, where he dedicated 34 years before retiring.
An outdoorsman at heart, Duane was a passionate archer and a longtime member of the beehive, Wasatchbow Club. His love for the outdoors extended to fishing, hunting, bowling and camping. These activities not only brought joy to Duane but also provided cherished memories with his family, whom he adored deeply.
Duane is survived by his spouse Sheila; daughters Michele Potts and furbaby Lulu and Dauna (Dennis) Aardema; sons Kenneth and Robert; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; also a God granddaughter Alexie Carter Stroud. He was a cherished grandfather. Also survived by brothers Ross Brown, Clayton Brown, John Brown and sister Nancy Walker.
Preceded in death by his parents; his brothers William and Tracy Brown; sister Ruth Giles; and son-in-law Stacy Potts.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2025 from 10:00 to 12:00 PM at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State Street, Midvale. Graveside services to follow at 1:00 PM at Utah Veteran’s Memorial Park, 17111 S. Camp Williams Road, Bluffdale, where Duane’s life and legacy will be honored surrounded by family, friends and the natural beauty he so loved.
