Dorothy Swenson

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Dorothy Slaughter Swenson, 86, passed away July 10, 2016. Dorothy was born April 27, 1930 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Steve Andrew and Elizabeth Aeschimann Slaughter. Dorothy spent the first seven years of her life in Bingham, Utah and the rest of her life in Sandy, Utah. Her parents kindled her work ethic, frugality, and kindness to all. Dorothy married the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Swenson, on June 1, 1950 in the Salt Lake Temple. Their beautiful love story continues.

Dorothy loved her Heavenly Father and her Savior. She had a strong testimony of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ and her faith never wavered.

Family was the most important thing in the world to Dorothy. She loved her family, ever encouraging and always supportive. Despite illnesses and trials, she put her cares and pains aside to worry about and help those around her. All enjoyed her happy nature, sweet smile, generous hugs, and contagious laugh. She was a beautiful lady inside and out.

Dorothy is survived by her children: Susan (Stuart Palmer), Michael (Kathy), David (Wendy); 17 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and sister, Lillian Griffiths. She is preceded in death by her husband Bob, son Robert Jr., her parents and two siblings. We can only imagine the joyful reunions she is experiencing.

A funeral celebration will be held on Saturday, July 16, at 10:00 am the Sandy West Stake Center, 8670 South 220 East, Sandy, Utah. Viewings will be held Friday, July 15, 6-8 pm at Goff Mortuary, 8090 State St, Midvale, Utah and on Saturday, 9-9:45 am at the church. Interment will be at the Sandy Cemetery. The family expresses sincere appreciation for the loving care given by BeeHive Homes of Draper and Rocky Mountain Hospice.
