Doris Hay Sonne, 79, passed away April 2, 2015 in Salt Lake City surrounded by family and friends.
Born July 14, 1935 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Albert LaVell and Donna Barker Hay. Married Robert H. Sonne in Loveland, Colorado on September 25, 1964. Doris graduated from West High School in 1953 and went on to hold various jobs in the Salt Lake Valley including a switchboard operator, office secretary, and bar tender. She spent the majority of her working years employed by Murray School District as a school lunch lady from which she retired after 20 years. She was a member of Martha Chapter #7 Order of Eastern Star and Iris Court #47, Ladies Oriental Shrine of North America. She loved camping, crocheting, spending time with and caring for her family and dog. Doris had the ability to make everyone feel instantly welcomed and loved. She always had a smile and a hug for everyone!
Preceded in death by her parents, twin sister Deloris, and her beloved husband Bob. Doris is survived by her sons, Robert L.; Wayne M. (Jere); daughter, Heather; grandchildren, Mayzie and Dayne; sisters Norma and Donna; brothers; Norman, Boyd, and Lloyd.
Public funeral services will be conducted by officers and members of Martha Chapter #7, OES on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Goff Mortuary, 8090 So. State, where friends may call Wednesday 6-8 p.m. and Thursday one hour prior to services.
