Dora Maria Poulsen (Martinez), born Dora Maria Dominguez, passed away peacefully on April 17, 2025, with her family in West Jordan, Utah, at the age of 83.
Born on April 14, 1942, in Bingham Canyon, Utah, Dora was the daughter of Romulo and Sofia Dominguez. She grew up in a large family and maintained close bonds with her siblings-Roma, Roy, John, Helen, Bernida, Paul, and Robert. She also held dear the memory of Albert, Elanor, Freddy, Debbie, and "the baby," who preceded her in death.
Dora was a gifted ceramic artist, winning a number of ribbons at State Fairs. A talented beautician by trade, Dora brought beauty not only through her work but also through the warmth and kindness she extended to everyone around her. Her caring nature and unconditional love left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
Dora was blessed with a vibrant family life. She was the devoted mother of Rudy Martinez; Dan Martinez (Kay); and Lee Poulsen (Kimberly). Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren: Anna, Rosa, Lela, Makayla, Alex and many great-grandchildren. Dora's home was often filled with laughter during family gatherings-especially barbeques, Christmas breakfasts-and she found great joy in spending time with those she loved most.
She shared her life with two husbands during different chapters of her journey-Rudy and Archie-both of whom held special places in her heart. Dora's faith was an integral part of her life. As an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served faithfully in numerous callings over the years.
Dora had an adventurous spirit that took her far beyond the borders of Utah. She visited every state in the continental United States-many fond memories were made during road trips with her husband while traveling alongside John and Donna. Her love for travel extended across the globe with cruises (Alaska being one of her favorites) and visits to Rome, Paris, Spain, Greece, Costa Rica, Ireland, Mexico, Canada and Panama.
Whether antiquing on a quiet afternoon or casting a fishing line while camping under the stars, Dora embraced life's simple pleasures with gratitude and joy. Her helpful nature and radiant happiness touched countless lives.
A viewing will be held on Friday, April 25 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Goff Mortuary located at 8090 South State Street in Midvale. A second viewing will take place on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the LDS Church 6500 South Dixie Dr. (3655 West) in West Jordan. Funeral services will follow at the same location beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at West Jordan City Cemetery at 7925 South 1300 West.
Dora Maria Poulsen's legacy is one of love freely given and joyfully lived. May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.
