Donna Marie Grella, our loving mother and grandmother, died unexpectedly in her home on January 29, 2016 at the age of 57. We are all still in shock that she was taken from us so soon.
Donna was born on April 27 1958. She grew up in Morgan, NJ, and started her family in Sayreville, NJ at age 18. She also spent a few years living in Cape May and Wildwood, NJ. After her divorce in 1994, she relocated to Salt Lake City, UT, where she lived the rest of her life.
In spite of the many hardships she faced through her life, (including a victorious battle with a rare form of ovarian cancer), Donna was an extremely loving soul, and an amazing mother and grandmother. She was always full of love and light. She was the sweetest person you could ever meet. She was always very trusting of others, and extremely generous with what little she had. She made fast friends wherever she went.
In her spare time, Donna enjoyed cooking for her family (and making treats for her dogs). She absolutely LOVED animals, including her current dogs Dharma and Rocket, as well as Dharma's sister Martini, who remained friends. They were her babies, and they always made her so happy. The only thing that made her happier was the love of her children and grandchildren.
Donna also loved the outdoors. She loved to take walks on the beach in Wildwood with her dog 'May May'. After moving west, she would sometimes take weekend retreats to Wyoming with her dogs to enjoy time away from the city. She dreamed of retiring out there, somewhere on a quiet farm with her dogs and other animals.
May her soul rest in peace. She is now free of the trials and pains she faced in this world.
We love you always and forever, Mom.
Donna is survived by her children, Eric and Brian Grella (and his wife Angela); her grandchildren Cypress and Alexander Grella; her aunt, Linda Frankel; her nephews, Edward, Shawn and Michael Grella, and Robert Frankel; her nieces Christine Grella and Joanna Little; her beloved dogs Dharma and Rocket; and her ex-husband and father to her children Richard Grella. She is predeceased by her mother, Barbra Moskal; her grandparets, Anna and Joseph Moskal; and probably her favorite dog/best friend for 12 years, May.
A viewing/memorial service is scheduled for 5:00 p.m-7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 5 at Goff Mortuary on 8090 S. State Street in Midvale, UT. All friends are encouraged to attend.
