Our beloved brother and uncle Donald (Don) Price passed away on August 9, 2016 at the age of 87. He was born in Midvale, Utah on May 12, 1929 to Milan and Eva (Derikrava) Price. He suffered a stroke at age 50 and lived with that disability until one final stroke took his life.
Don excelled in sports at Jordan High School, participating in football, basketball and baseball. He lettered in all three sports. He graduated from Jordan High School with high honors. He and two of his brothers played for baseball for the Salt Lake Industrial baseball league. They were a crowd pleaser with the way they worked the plays. It was a pleasure to watch them. Don was awarded a baseball scholarship to the University of Utah where he played both football and baseball. He excelled in baseball. He graduated from the University in geology.
His career was with U. S. Geological Survey as a hydrologist. He was nationally recognized in Who's Who in America as one of the leading hydrologists in his field. He continued working after a disabling stroke and received an award as the Disabled Employee of the year from his employer, U. S. Geological Survey.
He served his nation in the Korean War as an Army communication specialist.
Don is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, George, Proko, Bob and Mitch; sisters, Soka, Mary, Mamie, Dorothy, Rae, Rose and Ellen. He is survived by sisters Ann and Amelia (who has been his caregiver for many years). Also surviving are his many nieces and nephews that loved him dearly.
At Don's request, there will be no viewing or services. A private memorial will be held. Our family would like to thank Don's "angels" at Sandy Rehab; his home care nurses; and the wonderful Hospice personnel. We would like to thank those therapists who worked with Don at Health South.
