Our beloved husband, dad, and grandpa, Don W. Facer was called to his heavenly home on Sunday, December 24, 2017.
Don was born to Meshach and Susie Facer on May 17, 1926 in Brigham City, UT. In his youth, Don loved to spend time hunting with his brothers in the Willard Peaks. He had a great love for music and played the cornet in a dance band. Don graduated from Willard High on May 28, 1944 and was on a train headed for San Diego 3 days later to join the US Navy. Don was very proud of his service during WWII and loved to tell stories of his experiences as Quartermaster on the USS Bingham. After his discharge from the Navy, Don moved to Boise with his brother to start a doughnut shop. This is where he met the love of his life Elaine (Toby) Facer. Elaine (Toby) went to the doughnut shop to see the handsome "doughnut boy" and it was love at first sight. Don and Elaine (Toby) married on October 4, 1948 and moved back to Utah in 1950. Over the next few years, two beautiful little girls, Cindy and Christy joined their family. They were the light of Don's life. In 1957, Don was hired as a trooper for the Utah Highway Patrol. He loved working for UHP and was eventually promoted to Sargeant. After 28 years of service, Don retired and settled down to spend time with his family. He loved his grandchildren and spent countless hours fishing, hunting, and just enjoying his family. Don took such pride in everything he did. His family was his life.
Don had to endure the heartache of losing a grandson and granddaughter in tragic accidents. There is no doubt that there was a beautiful reunion in Heaven this Christmas with Nate and Angie.
Don is survived by his wife Elaine (Toby) Facer, daughters, Cindy Maxon (Brad Vernon), and Christy (Tom) Moore; grandchildren, Shelley Dawn (Kory) Richins, Jason (Lindsay) Moore; 9 great grandchildren: 4 great-great grandchildren; brother Darwin (Shirley) Facer and many nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers; 2 sisters; grandson, Nathan D. Maxon, and granddaughter, Angela Donelle Fitzgerald.
At the request of family, services will be private, with interment at the Coalville Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the community for the outpouring of love and support at this difficult time. They would also like to acknowledge the staff of The Family Tree and Symbii Home Health for the compassion and care given to Don. A special thanks to Dr. Chipman and Christopher at the Park City Medical Center for their compassion and support to our family.
