Dolly Thuryle (Mccauley) Clyde Nelson

Christmas day is a rare time of year when families draw close to one another to celebrate the birth of our Savior, so it is fitting that Mom would choose to return home on such a beautiful day, to be with her family from whom she has been separated for so long. She passed away peacefully at Sunrise Living Community in Holladay due to complications of Alzheimer's.

Thuryle was born on June 29, 1936, in Washington DC to Ione Arebutus Alger and John Snyder McCauley. Her early years on the East Coast were filled with friendships that have never faded. She always had fond memories of firesides in the home of then Secretary of Agriculture Ezra Taft Benson, the blooms of Dogwood trees in the spring and time at the beaches with friends. She left the East to attend Brigham Young University to study Home Economics. There she met Don Roger Clyde and they were married in the Salt Lake City Temple on June 5, 1959. It was a blessing to her to be joined into a loving extended family, as she was an only child. Her sisters-in-law became dear friends and sisters in the truest sense. During their early married years, they lived in Oakland, California. While in California they were blessed with two daughters, Elaina and Kristene. Eventually they moved back to Utah where she has lived for many years in Bountiful. Following the passing of Roger she found companionship with Lloyd Dean Nelson and they were married on September 26, 2007.

Thuryle was active in the community, sharing her many talents in support of the arts and theater. She was an accomplished seamstress and could create everything from costumes to wedding dresses masterfully. We have to smile when we think of her love of parties. If someone needed any help throwing a party she was willing, generous and up to the task. She was talking about having everything ready for the "party" right up to the end. She always had a deep love of family and family gatherings were one of her favorite things. She would gather people to her home for delicious meals and to create memories. She loved beautiful gardens and loved to spend time cultivating flowers and plants. Thuryle loved the Lord and serving in the church. She had a giving heart and always looked for those who needed a hand lifted or assistance in any way. Her friendships made in this life meant everything to her and the love of those associations were sustaining to her to the end. She will be missed by many but remembered as a dear sweet mother, wife, sister, aunt and friend.

She is survived by her husband, Lloyd Dean Nelson. daughters, grandchildren and great grandchildren, Elaina (William) Gillespie, their children Rachel (Cory) Seitz, Sean, Emma and Katherine, Kristene (Brian) Gonzales, their children Taylor (Corinne) Finlayson, Brooke Finlayson (Kelly) Jensen and their children Wayde and Bo. She is preceded in death by her husband Don Roger Clyde.

Funeral services will be held â€ªSaturday, December 30, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. in the Mueller Park 2nd Ward building, â€ª1825 South 800 East, Bountiful, Utah. Friends may call â€ªSaturday morning from 10-11:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.

The family would like to express appreciation to all of Mom's wonderful friends, neighbors and ward members who have loved and cared for her over the years, and the very caring and loving staff at Sunrise who made her last days a joy.
