Dixie Allen

January 5, 1933 — October 4, 2015

Dixie Allen

Dixie Jensen Allen passed peacefully early Sunday morning, October 4, 2015 after a lengthy illness. She was born January 5, 1933 in Copperton, Utah to Henry Allen Jensen and Verna Rawle Carrigan. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a firm testimony of her Savior Jesus Christ. It was her sincere desire that her family come to know Him as she did.

Dixie attended Jordan High School where she participated in a variety of activities especially the school operettas. She married Calvin R Allen in her senior year on February 14, 1951 in the Salt Lake Temple. A short time later Calvin entered basic training at Fort Story, Virginia before his service in the Korean War.

Her life was filled with children and music. Over the years her church service included Primary chorister and teacher, librarian, and nursery leader. Her love of music spanned her lifetime. She lent her clear soprano voice to several groups and choirs over the years. For nearly a quarter century she sang with Shirley Anderson and Beverly Nowatny. Her love of Primary music was evident in her home as she raised ten children; it calmed and sustained her throughout her illness.

Dixie is survived by her husband Calvin R Allen, brothers Kent C. Jensen, and Allen James Jensen, children, Katherine Allen Andrews (Melvin), Duane J Allen (Sharla), Calvin Ralph Allen (Karen), Ronald J Allen (Denise), Judy Allen Greenland, Roger Donald Allen (Michelle), Lana Allen Ricord (Clayton), Gordon J Allen (Denise), Verna Allen Cruz, and Michael J Allen (Laurie), 54 grandchildren, and 94 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by an infant son, John J Allen, her parents, Henry Allen Jensen and Verna Rawle Carrigan, and a sister Darhl Jensen Janis.

We wish to express sincere appreciation to Mindy, Jaderli, Travis, and Brent of Symbii Home HealthCare and Hospice for the compassion and care they offered our family during her final days.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Corner Canyon First Ward Chapel, 13006 South Boulter Street in Draper.
