Diane (Doc) Mendenhall passed away early morning Saturday July 27, 2024. She left on her own terms in her home after a long valiant fight with lung cancer. She never let the cancer stop her from doing the things she loved. She took a river trip through the Grand Canyon, went swimming with the Manta Rays in Kona, visited the famous Goonies beach, and learned to paddle board with Ruby (her fur baby). She never let the aliens (her name for the cancer) slow her down.
Diane was born June 22, 1953, in Richfield Utah to Arlene Parker and Thomas Hicken Mendenhall. As a child Diane was happy go lucky and mischievous. Diane acquired the nickname Doc because she was always the go to person for first aid and help. After high school she aspired to become a radiology tech. Diane never started the schooling for radiology tech but was hired at Napa auto parts. Diane made lifelong friendships during her 40+ years with Napa. If you have ever met Diane, you became a part of the family.
Diane was an avid outdoor enthusiast. She loved skiing, boating, wind sailing, hunting, and fishing. If she was outdoors, she was in her element. Diane was self-reliant and hated to ask anyone for help, but she was always willing to help someone in need. She could do anything she set out to accomplish. Diane was a force of nature, and her presence will be missed.
She is survived by her siblings Julie, Jim, and Dave, 10 nieces and nephews, 16 great nieces and nephews, her fur babies Bug and Maggie, and many other relatives and friends. Diane never did anything conventional and did not want a funeral. Instead, she wants us to have a “big ass party”. We will be holding a celebration of life on August 24, 2024. Details will be finalized and shared soon. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to causes that meant so much to Diane.
