Dennis Blanchard Dixon, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away December 4, 2022 at the age of 90. Dennis was born on March 3, 1932 in Payson, Utah to Blanchard and May Taylor Dixon. He attended Peeteetneet Elementary School as well as both Payson Junior and Senior High School. Dennis went on to study Economics at Stanford University and Brigham Young University, while also earning the ranking of a Sergeant for the ROTC. He later served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (LDS) in East Germany for 2 1/2 years. Upon completing his mission, he bought his father’s meat processing business, Dixon Meat, and ran it until he was 87 years old.
On April 25, 1969, Dennis married the love of his life Rosemary Brough Dixon in the Manti Utah Temple where they were sealed together for time and all eternity. Ten years into their marriage, Dennis and Rosemary were blessed with their daughter Malinda who they then raised in their Payson, Utah home.
Dennis had a love for many things in life. Those that were fortunate to meet Dennis always saw him with a wide, all-encompassing smile on his face. He loved meeting people and getting to know others. His love for all things outdoors led him to many adventures. He went on numerous camping, hiking, and fishing trips where he surrounded himself with his friends and family. Dennis’ passion for music led him to become fluent in playing the clarinet. He spent many Sunday evenings performing at the Payson City park band concert for over 25 years. Dennis also had a strong testimony and was a faithful member of the LDS Church. His love for people, places, music, and his faith led Dennis to have a wonderful, fulfilling life.
Dennis was preceded in death by his wife Rosemary Brough Dixon, his parents Blanchard and May Taylor Dixon, and his infant sister Linda Mae.
He is survived by his daughter Malinda (Chris) Dixon in Payson, Utah; foster daughter Maxine Norton in Albuquerque, New Mexico; and his 5 brothers and 1 sister: Glenn (Jeri) Dixon in Blackfoot, ID; Blaine (Carol) Dixon in Modesto, CA; Russell (Risa) Dixon in Oakland, CA; Kathleen (Jim) Adams in Yucaipa, CA; and Don Dixon in Payson.
We would like to express our gratitude to Aspen Ridge Home Health & Hospice for the love and care they gave Dennis and Malinda the last few years. A special thank you to nurses Nani, Andrea, and Gracee for helping Dennis during the final years of his life.
