Delose Whiting, 82, returned home to Heaven on August 5, 2022 while surrounded by his dearest loved ones at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, Utah.
Delose was born on October 6, 1939 in Nephi, Utah to Edward Monroe Whiting and Anna Lena Nelson Whiting. He was the seventh of twelve kids. To his joy, the same block in Nephi where he was born remained home to him for his entire life. On April 15, 1961, he married Patricia Ann Lowther in the Manti Temple. Delose served his country in the National Guard. He later worked at NRP for 48 years as well as other odd jobs throughout his life to provide for his family.
On July 28, 2022, Delose was involved in an ATV accident in which he sustained injuries that had him life flighted to Utah Valley Hospital. His heart having stopped mid-life-flight for four minutes, the medical staff revived him. He went on to spend eight days on life support which gave him and his family extra time together and some sweet, peaceful closure before he passed on.
To know Delose was to know that he was sweet, humble, meek, quiet, kind, silly, respectful, hard working, and very easy going. He had the most special, soft, loving heart. He endured a lot of heartache in his life but always held so much gratitude for his family, his life, and everything he had. On an average day for Delose, you could find him kicked back in front of the TV with the volume turned all the way up, Pepsi in hand and usually a few ding dongs. He loved his treats. Chocolates would be all he ever wanted for Christmas. Delose was an amazing gardener. He was a true plant whisperer with a gift of growing his garden. Delose loved to camp and hunt. He couldn’t see very well but could spot a deer from a mile away. He couldn’t hear very well, but could hear you talk about chocolate from a mile away.
Delose was preceded in death by his parents Edward and Lena, siblings Oris, Merle, Ruby, Selma, Glenn, and Deloris, and sweet, great granddaughter Indy Llew Jones.
He is survived by his wife Pat, son Shane (Kathleen), grandchildren Megan (Robert), Skylee (McKay), Alyssa, Terah (Brian), and Chris (Malissa), 12 great grandchildren, siblings Norman, Bud (Karen), Blaine (Carol), and Raymond (Claudia). A very special thanks to niece Jennifer Peay who lived next door and took care of him daily.
His services will be held August 11, 2022. The viewing will be held from 10:00 am-10:45 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints located at 1125 N 400 E in Nephi, UT. Following will be his graveside services at 1200 N 400 E at 11:00 am.
