Deborah (Debbie) Helen Gibbs

Beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother, Deborah (Debbie) Helen Gibbs passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 22, 2020. Debbie was born on August 22, 1952 in Los Angeles, CA to Russell Cashin, Jr and Helen Peterson. Her family moved to Hacienda Heights, CA, where she met and later married her neighbor Ned Gibbs on January 20, 1970. They were sealed for eternity in the Los Angeles Temple on February 18, 1972. Together they welcomed 15 children in 23 years. They lived in Norfolk, VA, Provo, Utah, Plano, Sherman, and Ft. Worth, TX, Camarillo, Oceanside, and Newbury Park, CA. After Ned's passing in 2006, Debbie moved to Lehi, UT.

Debbie was a woman of strength who had great faith in the promises of God. She was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Due to her example, her husband received his own testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and they raised their children to be faithful members. As a result, many of her children and grandchildren have served missions for the church.

Debbie took great pride in her family and always spoke of them to people she would meet. Her children and grandchildren brought her so much joy. In raising fifteen children, Mom never met a sale she didn't like and Sundays were spent clipping coupons to be used during her frequent trips to the store. Debbie taught her children the value of hard work. Household chores were required by all and were inspected to ensure completeness. Many chores were done multiple times to meet high standards. She expected each of her children to be their best. Whenever a child would leave the house she would remind them to remember who they were and to show this, not just in action, but also in cleanliness, appearance, and dress.

Mom was a great example of service. She often took the opportunity to give to others even when sacrifice was required.

She is preceded in death by her husband Edward (Ned) Stewart Gibbs, mother Helen Peterson and father Russell Cashin Jr. She is survived by her fifteen children, Nathan (Kim) Gibbs, Matthew (Jamee) Gibbs, Amber (Chris) Johnson, Ginger (Juan) Brea, Kimberly (Joey) Heinrich, Heather (Christian) Johnson, Cameron (Heidi) Gibbs, Julia (Robert) Gutierrez, Lora (Adam) Kelly, Vaughn (Shelby) Gibbs, Byron (Alyssa) Gibbs, Paul Gibbs, Sam (Adrienne) Gibbs, Heidi (Josh) Summerhays, Maryanne (Michael) Standiford, 50 grandchildren and her companion the last few years her dog Mr. Chewy. She is also survived by her sister Wanda Clouse, and half-siblings Russell, Lynda, Ryan, Darrell, Eric, and Rebecca Cashin, and Cary Crosby.

Debbie's children express gratitude to all who loved and served their mother. Thank you to Aspen Senior Care, Ashford Memory Care, and Inspiration Hospice for their great care. A special thank you to her many friends in the Traverse Mountain 6th Ward.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, December 27, 2020 from 5-7 pm at Anderson and Goff Mortuary in Draper, Utah. Please follow social distancing guidelines including wearing a mask.

Funeral services will be held on January 2, 2021 in California. Due to the current environment, funeral services will be for immediate family only. Interment will be at Conejo Mountain Memorial Park in Camarillo, CA.
