Deborah (Deby) Whittemore Browning of Sandy, Utah passed away at her home with her husband at her side on August 24, 2020 after a 9-month battle with cancer.

"I sought the Lord and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to Him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame." (Psalm 34: 4-5)

Deby was born on May 25, 1956 in Bangor, Maine and lived there until the family moved to Connecticut in the spring of 1957. After graduating from Enfield High School in 1974, she attended Asnuntuck Community College and earned her Associates Degree in 1976. To work in her field of interest, meteorology, she enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1977. After serving in Kamiseya and Atsugi, Japan and Monterey, California, she was selected for the Navy's Enlisted Commissioning program in 1982 and attended the University of Idaho. Upon graduation in 1984 she earned her BA in History with a minor in Slavic studies. After graduation she attended Officer Candidate School (OCS) in Newport, Rhode Island where she earned a commission as an Ensign in the U.S. Navy. While attending OCS she met her future husband Paul and they were married in 1985 in San Diego, California. While in San Diego, they were blessed with two sons, Jeremy and Kyle. After serving in several other locations in Los Angeles and Long Beach, she accepted early retirement from the Navy in 1994 and worked as Sales Assistant for an industrial and irrigation supply company in Oxnard, California. When the family moved to Sandy, Utah in 1997, Deby worked as an Office Manager for Inman Water Products in Midvale until 2002 and Sprinkler World in Sandy until 2005, when she left to be a stay-at-home mom. Starting in 2006 she worked as a substitute teacher and volunteer for the Jordan School District and completed her Master of Arts Degree in Psychology from the University of the Rockies in 2012. In addition to loving her family, she enjoyed reading, road trips, genealogy, cooking, writing, and was an avid rock collector.

Deby is survived by her husband Paul Browning, eldest son Jeremy Browning (Holly and granddaughters Elaina, Mirabel, Melody), of Springfield, Oregon, youngest son Kyle Browning of Englewood, Colorado, parents Donald, Sr. and Joanne Whittemore of Mount Dora, Florida, four brothers: Steve (Diane), Jim, Mike (Debbie), Donald, Jr. (Leslie), and many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Deby was a loving Wife, Mom, Nana, Godmother, and friend to all. Her children and grandchildren were truly blessed by her abundant generosity. She will be greatly missed.

After a short prayer service, visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on September 9, 2020 at Anderson & Goff Mortuary, 11859 S. 700 E., Draper, Utah. Funeral services will be at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 300 E. 11800 S., Draper, Utah on September 10, 2020 at 11:00AM. She will be laid to rest at Larkin Sunset Gardens in Sandy, Utah. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Huntsman Cancer Institute on behalf of Deborah Browning (huntsmancancer.org/giving/foundation) or the American Cancer Society (cancer.org). The family would like to thank her Intermountain Health Care Medical Oncology team led by Dr. Ramya Thota and Dr. Jamie Brant as well as her hospice nurse Brigitte Hansen.
