David Michael Mann

David Michael Mann, born January 31, 1961 to Ronald D. and Carol Dee Anderson Mann in Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away July 7, 2019 after the battle of his life, surrounded by his loving family. David was the third of six children in his family, but was the first child born to his parents after returning from military service in Germany.

His education was always supported by Carol at home and school and Ron working many hours to support the family. David went to Granite School District schools, James E Moss, Granite Park Jr. High, and Graduation from Skyline High School.

David was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the Scouting Program and Elders quorum. He loved attending the Temple as the House of the Lord gave his life peace and divine direction.

David worked many jobs in the construction trade, mostly he was trained as a sheet metal worker building portable classrooms, banks and offices. He learned how to do all basics from framing, electrical, plumbing, but installing the H.V.A.C. venting was his specialty, working for several general contractors building new ward and stake houses for the church. To improve his skills he enlisted in the Army Reserves and completed basic training at Ft. Jackson, South Carolina. His specialists training was at Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland. Upon his return from the Army he had many hurdles, working hard to match his many job skills with employment to match, from which he became self employed to make more income. It was all because of his love of being a father and provider which was his first priority.

After many struggles of work and worry, and helping with the care of Grandpa Anderson he had a Brain-Stem stroke, which didn't kill him but left him a non-verbal quadriplegic. At the age of 31 his life was taking this new and very difficult pathway. David was single and his parents changed their lives to care for David at home. It was a learning experience that had all siblings at times as care givers. With the help of family and home health, David worked the new path, he was always happy and grateful to many support angels. Learning how to communicate with a spelling chart. Each hurdle was crossed with David looking forward to the best outcomes. Being with family and having them read to him, going to the Temple and family parties were all to help his children. As a man that didn't speak David always communicated his gratitude and Love for God, Family and Fellow Man, everyone loved David. In 2007 his father Ron passed away and in 2013 his mother Carol passed, however the plan of David's care had been in place and the transition to his best friend and youngest brother Darrin was part of the plan with support as always from home health and family.

On April 9th after more than 27 years as a quadriplegic, he broke his leg and while healing developed a viral bi-Iateral pneumonia and septic urinary tract infection that almost took his life, but many days of hospital care returned him home and David seemed on the path to better health. Still having some health hurdles his recovery was slow. On July 3rd he had respiratory failure that caused a heart attack, after restarting David's heart at the house and once at the hospital, he became somewhat stable but damage had been done, his body tried to recover, however on July 7, David's earthly journey ended with a glorious reunion into his Mother's arms and his Father saying well done my faithful son, we've prepared a place for you.

The David Mann family is as follows, Brian (Rhonda) Mann, Pamela (Dave) Fischer, Jeff (Cathy) Mann, Darrin Mann (primary care giver since 2004), Angie (Mark) Hiskey, children Alison Mann (Ron), Brandon (Erin) Mann, Rachelle (Taylor) Clegg and 7 grandchildren.

The family would like to thank all that loved David during his journey, Mom, Dad, Darrin, Rhonda, Pam, Angie Brother Bailey, Synergy Home Health for their support, Todd Mascarenas, Jordan Call, Mandy Turner, Kati G., and many others, the ST. MARKS hospital for the LOVE and TENDER care in David's final hours, and the E.M.T. and Firefighters of Unified Fire and Murray City Fire Departments!
