David Steven Thomas Loyens - father, brother, son, family member and friend, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 14, 2021.
Born on July 6, 1965, he grew up in Huntington, Connecticut. After graduating from Shelton High School, he attended college in Utah, where (just maybe) he spent a little more time on skiing and golf than his studies. He made many friends through church basketball. After college, he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in New Mexico. Upon returning, he started a family in Trumbull, Connecticut. There, he established a successful career in real estate development.
In 2004, David moved his family to Park City, Utah. He was a very dedicated and driven man when it came to work and family. He created business wherever he went, and could talk to anyone. His greatest enjoyments were being involved in his kids' sporting events, whether he was coaching on the sideline or being a rowdy parent who harassed refs.
David is survived by five of his children - Ashley, Joshua, Jonas, Madeleine and Andre, his mother - Rita Cousins, his siblings - Steven Cousins, Daniel Loyens and Donna Palmer, along with many other loved ones. He is now reunited with his son, Jack Loyens, and his father, Donald Cousins.
We will miss his intelligent banter, infectious laughter and legendary stories.
