David B. Harman, Jr.

David Byron Harman, Jr. passed away on April 22, 2016, in South Jordan, Utah. He was born June 2, 1933 in Salt Lake City, Utah to David B. Harman, Sr. and Norma Pehrson. He grew up in Midvale, Utah and graduated from Jordan High School. He attended the University of Utah prior to joining the U.S. Navy. He married Elaine Ross in 1954, and they lived in California until he was discharged from service. They returned to Utah, where Dave attended LDS Business College and worked for Penrose Service Station. He was a delivery driver for Winder Dairy for 8 years. He began his banking career at Utah State Employees Credit Union, and worked there for 9 years before working for Valley Bank & Trust, Valley National Bank, Bank One, and Chase Bank. During this time, he was promoted to Assistant Vice President. After retiring, he continued to work for the bank as a courier for many years. He was later hired by Salt Lake City Credit Union and Mountain America Credit Union as a courier.

Throughout his life, Dave's favorite hobby was searching for, buying, and selling cars. He owned over 50 vehicles over the years.

Dave was an active member of the LDS church, where he served in the Sunday School Presidency, as a Ward and Stake Finance Clerk, and in the High Priest Quorum Presidency. He worked as a temple sealer for over 10 years.

David was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He valued hard work. He was kind and generous, and cherished by many.

The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the wonderful staff at Carrington Court Assisted Living, for the love and genuine care that they've shown to our sweet man for the last 10 months.

Dave is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Elaine; his father, and mother. David is survived by his children, Gary (Michelle, deceased), Steve (Julie), Rick (Adrian), and Lori Maxfield (Brad); grandchildren, Stefanie Goebel (Christiaan), Jamie Pettinger (Denny), Colton Harman, Sydnee Maxfield, and Tanner Maxfield; great grandchildren, Trexler Pettinger, Gauge Thornton, Gia Goebel, and Zoe Goebel; brother, Rodney Harman (Renay), and sisters-in-law, Devean Smart and Mern Cook.

Viewing 10:00-11:45 a.m., Wednesday, April 27, prior to service at noon at Goff Mortuary, 8090 S. State St., Midvale. Interment, Midvale Cemetery.
