David (Carl) Lee Carroll

Our loving husband, father and brother, David (Carl) Lee Carroll, returned home to his Heavenly Father August 17, 2018 in South Jordan, Utah after a courageous 7-year battle with cancer. He was born October 11, 1957 in Murray, Utah to David Heber Carroll and Blanch Viola Berrett Carroll. David graduated from Cyprus High School in 1976, serving 4 years in the JROTC. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a 2-year mission in the Argentina Buenos Aires South Area from 1977 to 1979.

He was a resident of Magna, Taylorsville and South Jordan. David married Elizabeth (Liz) Jeanne Jirovec September 3, 1992, and they were later sealed In the Salt Lake City LDS Temple December 20, 1996. His greatest joy was being a husband and father to his daughter Katie and his son Brendan. David worked at Energy Solutions until 2013.

He was the local Clan Chieftain for Clan Cian in the Salt Lake City area. (An Irish family clan). He was a member of SCA (The Society for Creative Anachronism) and was known as "Lord Carl of Wiltshire." David had many interests and talents. He was a poet and loved reading. He did calligraphy, leather working, chainmail and armor construction. He enjoyed many costumes: Santa, Klingon, Pirate, Kilt etc... He was also known for his sense of humor and quick wit.

He is survived by his wife Liz Carroll, daughter Katie Carroll, and son Brendan Carroll, brothers Tom (Ileen) Carroll and Don Carroll, sister-in-laws Ruth (Chuck) Embley and Charlene (Jamie) Bradley, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by his parents.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to CNS Hospice for the loving care David received for the past 18 months.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 24, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Meadows Chapel, 9455 So. 4800 W., South Jordan, Utah. Viewings will be held in the same chapel August 23, 2018 from 6 - 8 pm and Friday morning at 10:00 am before the services. Interment, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
