Darlene Sperry Everitt

Darlene Sperry Everitt, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully in her home on April 23, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on July 10, 1937, to Roy and Thelma Sperry, she was the middle child in a loving family, growing up surrounded by three brothers and two sisters. Darlene graduated from Juab High School and, shortly after, married the love of her life, LaMar Everitt, on August 20, 1955, in Nephi, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple. They were married 66 years before LaMar passed away on Sept 6, 2021.

Throughout her life, Darlene had various jobs, but she retired from Utah American, where she inspected baseball hats. She treasured the friendships she made at her jobs.

Darlene had a special love for her garden. She was always eager to share the harvest of the garden with family and friends. She canned what she grew, and her family loved her canned pears, apricot jam, cherries, and pickled beets. No weed stood a chance in her yard or yours—if she spotted one, it was pulled without hesitation. Darlene also enjoyed driving up the canyon or around town. She loved living in Nephi. She enjoyed camping with her family and snowbirding with LaMar and his siblings. Darlene was an avid Utah Jazz fan. She rarely missed a game on TV. Her family loved to watch her watch the games.

Family meant everything to Darlene. She took pride in the lives and accomplishments of her children, grandchildren, and siblings, and her love for them was evident in everything she did. Her unwavering faith in the Lord was reflected in her actions, and she demonstrated her testimony of the Savior through her kindness and compassion. Darlene was a peacemaker, always putting others before herself. She lived a life filled with gratitude, often expressing her thanks with the words, “Thank you, thank you, thank you,” a reflection of her thankful heart. Darlene had a deep belief in people and always sought to see the best in everyone she met.

Known as the “baby whisperer” within her family, she had a unique gift for comforting little ones. Darlene loved snuggling with them, reading stories, and could put a baby to sleep in minutes with her gentle way. Her love has been written on her family’s heart forever.

Darlene is survived by her children: David (Janet), Dennis, and Dale (Rhonda) Everitt of Nephi; Marla (Vern) Chugg of Draper; her sister, Linda (Dennis) Sherwood; 15 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, LaMar; her parents; her siblings, Lee (Beth), Neil, Joyce, and Ned; and her daughter-in-law Barbara.

A viewing will be held for Darlene at Anderson Funeral Home, 94 West 300 North, Nephi, Utah, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 29, 2025. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at 11:00 am at the Nephi 4th Ward Chapel, 355 East 500 North, Nephi, Utah, with a viewing prior to the service from 9:30–10:45 am at the church.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Besendorfer and CVMC hospice for their loving care and to all those who have shown love and support to our family at this time.
