Our beloved sister, Darla Jean Payne returned to her Heavenly Father August 9th, 2020. She died in her Midvale home where she lived since she was 4 years old. She was born March 12, 1952, to J.S. & Margie Payne, the third of five children.
Darla was beautiful both inside and out. Her generosity and love is legendary in our family and her ward. She was always first to volunteer her service and money. She was very shy and private not telling anyone of her sorrows or difficulties. She wouldn't accept anyone's help, telling all who offered that she could take care of herself.
She loved her family dearly. She cared for her and our parents until their death. Her nieces and nephews were very special to her. She never had a child of her own which is sad because she would have been the perfect mother.
The love of her life was a little white dog, Lacey, which we all called "wild woman."
Darla was truly a daughter of God. She served faithfully in many callings as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She has a deep testimony of her Father in Heaven and her Savior. She loved being a primary teacher and served for many years. She adored her little kids, and made crafts for them. She also served as a Relief Society President and many years of her life as Compassionate Service Leader. She ministered faithfully to others in many ways.
We, her family, want to thank her many friends in the Union Fort Fifth Ward for their love and support. While we are heart broken, we rejoice in the knowledge that she has finished her mission and can now be with her beloved Mother and Father.
There will be a graveside service on Monday, August 17th at 11:00 am at the Midvale Cemetery. We would like to invite all but understand the circumstances of the world.
