Daniel R Tappana

Daniel Rollans Tappana, 65, Midvale, passed away on July 9, 2016 suddenly of a heart attack. Dan was born May 1, 1951 in Joplin, MO to Paul Daniel Tappana and Helen Rollans Tappana. Dan was his parent�s miracle baby and the absolute apple of their eye. He and his Mother relocated to Eugene, Oregon at 6 years of age after the death of his Father. He graduated from North Eugene High School and went on to receive a Bachelor�s Degree in History from the University of Oregon. Dan had many interests and passions, but what he enjoyed most was spending time with his family. Dan married Barbara Geurts in 1972, with whom he had three children, Paul (Jamie), Wes (Cindy), and Courtney (Justin). He married Sue Castleberry in 1982 with whom he had four sons, Tim (Ashley), Brigham (Kari), Sam (Caitlin), and Jake (Ashley). He married the love of his life, Nonie Nelson, in 2001 with whom he shared two step-sons, DJ (Jeannette) and Tony (Kelly). Dan was happiest spending time with his 24 1/2 grandchildren and two grand-dogs. In addition to his love of family, he enjoyed cooking, going to movies, the Oregon Ducks, and collecting vinyl records. Dan loved meeting new people and catching up with old friends. He made everyone he met feel like an instant friend and would do anything for those he loved. He was a dearly loved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Dan was an active member of the LDS church and we take comfort to know we will see him again soon. In the meantime, he is with his beloved mother and father. Dan was taken much too soon and will be greatly missed. Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 15, 2016 at 11 AM in the Midvale East 4th Ward, 87 E 7100 So. Visitations will be held on Thursday from 6-8 PM and also from 9:30-10:30 prior to services BOTH at the Ward. Memorial donations may be made at www.youcaring.com/dantappana .
