Daniel Edward Sloan

Daniel Edward Sloan passed from this life on Wednesday, October 14, 2015, after a nearly five-year battle with a cancerous brain tumor. Throughout his health struggles, he did not complain, nor did he ever lose his love and enthusiasm for his passions, for people, and for life. Dan was born on November 5, 1981, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He grew up in a boisterous home of eight children, and developed a passionate and stubborn personality that would carry through his life. He played football from a young age, and continued on to play football for Jordan High School. He served a Russian-speaking LDS mission in Sacramento, California, an experience he loved and cherished. During his University of Utah college years, he joined an LDS fraternity and quickly became a charismatic leader who lived for crazy adventure and fun with his brothers. He also became an avid Utah football fan. At the University of Utah, he earned his degree in Business Marketing. Dans greatest love in life was people. When he walked into a room full of people, if he didnt already know several them, he wouldnt leave the room until he did. He was a shining light for so many around himfrom siblings to cousins, childhood friends to football teammates, frat brothers to college buddies, and coworkers to anyone he met. He was a fierce and loyal friend. If you knew Dan, you loved him, and you knew he loved you, too. Dan was preceded in death by his father, Michael Edward Sloan, and is survived by his beloved mother, Iris, and his siblings Melissa, Melanie (Matt) Kitterman, Marianne (Jesse) Knight, Mike, Steven (Celeste), Kathryn, and Shawn (Kali) and his nieces and nephews. Services will be held at the LDS Chapel at 5750 South Nena Way, (100 West) in Murray, UT. A viewing willtake placeon Tuesday, October 20, from 6-8 PM, after which the casket will be closed. On Wednesday, October 21, visitors will be welcomefrom 10:30 to 11:30 AM, and the funeral will follow at 12 Noon. Burial will follow in the Salt Lake City Cemetery.
