Dana Lynn Harkins was born October 31, 1938 in Murtaugh, Idaho to A. W. Tadlock and Chloe Mitchell. She is the second to oldest of 5 siblings. She graduated from high school in 1956 and married Glenn C. Harkins on June 2, 1956. She graduated from the Burbank College of Cosmetology in 1969.
She lived in Idaho, Texas, Colorado, California and Utah. After her divorce she worked two and three jobs as a hostess, waitress, file clerk and receptionist to keep her family together and raise her three sons. She also helped raise her brother's three daughters for a while. Having six teenagers in the house kept her young, she said.
Dana is survived by her three sons : Kevin (Lucy), Tooele, Utah, Darren, Salina, Utah, Danny (Danna), Twin Falls, Idaho. She has eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Carol and brother-in-law Kay Biggers.
Dana worked at Utah Trailways for 32 years. She started as a hostess on the night runs and eventually worked her way into the office as receptionist, hostess and dispatch. In her later years she continued to share her home with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a long-standing weekend relationship with the casinos in Wendover. Her favorite place to be was under a palm tree, playing cards, or at a slot machine. Poor health, bad back and knee pain slowed her down but never stopped her from going. She loved her family and lived a long full life. Now she has taken the fun bus for the eternal tour. Your players card is in the side pocket - rest in peace.
